Automated Pet Feeder system
Robotics & Engineering
Project Results
Developed an Arduino-based pet feeding system featuring programmable scheduling displayed on a 16x2 LCD. Integration of a 4x4 matrix Keypad allows users to input feeding times. The system ensures timely and reliable meal dispensing, providing pet owners peace of mind and convenience in maintaining their pet's well-being.
Project Description
I developed an Arduino-based system that presents an innovative solution to the challenge of maintaining consistent feeding schedules for pets. With my system, users can conveniently program and display the time and date on the 16x2 LCD. With just the push of a button, my system prompts users to input their pet's feeding time via the 4x4 matrix Keypad, which is then displayed on the LCD. Once confirmed, the system initiates a sequence whereby a food container gate rotates to dispense the predetermined amount of food into the pet's bowl or plate. To achieve this I used a servo-motor which rotates the gate after receiving the command from the Arduino. This automated process, triggered by the match between the real-time clock and the user-entered feeding time, ensures that pets receive their meals promptly and reliably.
By seamlessly integrating technology with pet care routines, my solution offers pet owners peace of mind and convenience in maintaining their pet's well-being, even if they are busy or not around.

Remarks
I always wanted to build an automated pet feeder system for my dog, Milo. Under my mentor’s guidance I was finally able to overcome all my prior challenges. He very carefully helped in planning out the project, while also giving interesting inputs which made the whole project even more fun! He was very patient in helping me build the project from scratch and explaining even the basics to me. Now I feel confident enough to build more electronics projects.
